Rota Easter Egg-stravaganza

Naval Station Rota has a wonderful Easter event called the "Egg-stravaganza" every year. They hold it in the big galley lawn where they quadrant off the field for the different age groups and create Easter egg hunts for the kids. The eggs are filled with candy. In addition, there is music, face painting, bounce houses and a photo op with the Easter bunny. After the egg hunt, the galley, closed to almost everyone on base right now, opened for a special lunch. I really love this event because it has a huge turnout and is great way to celebrate the pagan side of Easter.

The first few pictures are a comparison of Olivia last year and this year at the egg hunt. She did not cope well with last year's hunt and literally picked up no eggs. Just laid in the grass screaming because she was so overwhelmed. How did she do this year???

Egg-stravaganza 2009. There Olivia is collapsed in the grass screaming. All the eggs around her just waiting to be picked up.

I think she was thinking here, "Get me out of here!" Egg-stravaganza 2009

And now for Egg-stravaganza 2010...

Yep. She is still upset. She was so excited for it to start. I pointed out eggs beforehand and then when it was our age group's turn, she clung to me and started to cry again. Did not want to pick up one egg.

Here I am begging for her to just put the yellow egg in. She acted as though I was asking her to hold a poisonous snake. I even tried to show her there was candy inside...she didn't care.

At the start of the hunt, pre-tears.

The only thing that made her happy. Bouncing in this thing with a bunch of 7 year old boys.

Although it was way too big for her to go on, she loved this dinosaur bounce house.
